Heritage within Starch Conversion
Hydro-Thermal has a rich heritage in the starch conversion industry which stretches back almost five decades. During this time, virtually all starch conversion companies throughout the world have incorporated Hydroheater direct steam injection (DSI) heating technology in a wide variety of starch conversion applications.
Whether converting starch in a dry grind or wet milling operation, Hydro-Thermal Jetcooker™ technology has played a major role at key processing stages in the refining process. The main reason for success in these applications is higher starch conversion rates than other processing methods.
Optimizing Starch Conversion Rates
The key to high conversion rates in direct starch cooking is exposing the highest possible percentage of starch molecules in the slurry to the steam. There are several variables involved in achieving the desired rates which are impacted by the choice in starch cooking technology:
- Solids Control
- Cook Temperature
- Hold Time at Temperature
- Agitation (shear)
